Road To Rio was an event which saw everyone participate to gather miles to try make 5777 miles and that means we have traveled to Rio. Just think of it – UK all the way to Brazil – that is incredible. At beginning of the event everybody did a warm up. Two laps of Finham Park’s field was equal to a mile. People managed to do more than 10 miles – the equivalent of 20 laps. After the warmup was an Opening Ceremony which every year group took part in. Some of the year groups showed a dance to celebrate the Olympic Games 2016. Once the ceremony was over everyone did activities that the sports leaders led. They worked with younger students and guided them to be happy and feel that they have succeeded in something. That brought happiness to them; you could see the joyful smiles on their faces. After the fun with the sports leaders it was time for lunch. On sale were donuts with sprinkles and chocolate. These made our mouths water! We had our lunch like a giant picnic. Finally the ice cream van was the most popular site on the field with a queue of at least 10 people nearly all afternoon.
